Can it be too good & true?

When things are good, seemingly too good, we believe that it can’t be true and we get into the posture where we’re expectant for the “other shoe to drop” …for the catch to rise up and screw us.

What we’re doing is positioning ourselves not in expectancy for blessing but for let down. We’re living out the greatest lie the enemy wants us to believe and that’s that we’re unworthy of being loved, especially by a holy God, and as a result we’re definitely underserving of any good thing.
The opposite of living in that joy stealing, truth killing, hope destroying lie is living from the word of God that says “He came to give us life and life abundant”.

The thing about God is that He’s a father. And he’s pretty good at it. Perfect actually.
The thing about us is that we call him father in our prayers but I don’t think we actually hang around long enough to let him show up as our dad. Maybe because we look at what the world has done to the image of the father figure and our expectations are set low.

But I want to remind us that God, he is a father who shows up. Every time, in the dead and dark of the night, in the breath of the morning, in the deepest valleys of sin, the strongest chains of shame, He shows up and helps us stand back up. He’s a father who celebrates us, comforts us, and who delights more than anything to bear us up daily with blessing (Ps. 68:19) .That in his presence we might taste the sweetness of his heart, that the richness of his love for us would be so great that they would manifest in innumerable blessings.
Greater than we could ever ask or imagine (Eph.3:20) Bill Johnson breaks down this verse so beautifully.
“ “Beyond all we ask” addresses the impact of our prayers, which include both those that are outwardly expressed as well as the secret cries of the heart. What God does for us is beyond the reach of our biggest prayer on our greatest day with our highest level of faith—He exists in that realm to work for us.
“Beyond all we think” is another very powerful statement dealing with the impact of our imagination. This describes us on our best day, with our most well-thought-out dreams, plans, goals, and imaginations. His commitment to us is to function beyond the limitations of our imagination and perform the unthinkable on our behalf.”

Life is good right now. So good. Not without challenge. Let’s be realistic I’m learning to live life in another country. But man I can’t tell you how many times in a week I say wow I love life. Then those thoughts rooted in the lie that there’s no such thing as “ too good” without a catch surface.
Today I’m putting to death that lie.
Instead I receive the life that is promised to me. The abundant one.
I will no longer say;
“It’s too good too be true”…which is really saying it’s too good it can’t be God
but instead I will say;

”it’s too good too be true…that’s how I know it’s you

That’s my encouragement to you today too. To be reminded that a life, a circumstance, a job, a friend “too good” IS TRUE, it does exist. And it’s because you are worthy of it. Because you are loved and adored and chosen as a child of a really, really good dad.

If it seems too good it must be you God. So let us give you honor and glory and praise.

“ Enlarge the place of your tent and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out..” Isaiah 54:2
Make room for the blessings of God in your heart and life friend. Wait and receive. And rejoice in the “too good it’s true”
